Zhirinovsky announced that he was revoking the law on the sale of beer at the stadium. “Why is he? A man will get drunk from beer at the stadium: he will drink one bottle, then another – and that’s it,” the politician said.
Before the elections to the State Duma, the head of the LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky suddenly changed his mind and decided to withdraw his bill on the sale of beer at football stadiums in Russia. The politician said that his law was not needed.
The ban on the sale of beer in stadiums came into force back in 2005. However, exceptions were made for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020. In this regard, Zhirinovsky introduced a bill to allow beer in stadiums, but on the condition that part of the sales proceeds will go to professional and youth sports.
I am revoking the law on the sale of beer at the stadium, but why is it? A person will get drunk from beer in a stadium: he will drink one bottle, then another – and that’s it,
– said Zhirinovsky said in an interview with RB-Sport.
It is noteworthy that this happened on the eve of the elections to the State Duma. They should take place next week on Friday 17 September. In the near future, the Ministry of Sports was also going to express their position on the return of beer to the stadiums.
