On the eve of the visit of the President of Ukraine to Washington, the owner of the White House signed a memorandum on the allocation of $ 60 million to Kiev at the expense of the US Department of Defense.
US President Joe Biden signed a memorandum on the allocation of a tranche of $ 60 million to Ukraine.
As stated in a document published on the White House website, this is done in accordance with the American Foreign Aid Act of 1961: Biden ordered to allocate money to Kiev “for defense products and services of the Department of Defense, as well as for military education and training to provide aid to Ukraine “.
What is noteworthy, the required amount, although the powers are delegated to the Secretary of State, will be provided by the Pentagon – the military department of the United States.
Actually, this is the very thing for which the head of Independent Volodymyr Zelensky is going to the long-awaited meeting with the President of the States for him, which was postponed several times until the final date was finally approved – August 31.
Some observers, discussing the event, have already spoken out about it – in the sense that Zelensky’s visit thus loses its meaning: Biden played ahead of the curve, anticipating the requests of his Ukrainian colleague, who now only has to pour out gratitude.
