President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev will close the country's borders with 27 March, including for Ukrainians remaining abroad.
“Until the end of Friday, March, the state border will be closed and all passenger traffic will be stopped. Two weeks ago, I urged citizens to urgently return to Ukraine. Most, I am grateful to them, did it on their own. Other, more 27 thousand of Ukrainians, we returned home by air, trains and buses. But today we don’t have time to wait. We faced a difficult choice between citizens who are still abroad and the security 27 of millions of citizens within the country, ” – said Zelensky.
According to him, Ukrainian diplomatic missions and communities will take care of those Ukrainians who do not have time to return in the coming days, RIA Novosti reports.
In mid-March, Zelensky already stated that the citizens of the country have three days to return to their homeland, after which the passenger air service will be closed.
The Ukrainian authorities previously introduced an emergency regime due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus. A presidential decree was signed to close air links with other countries. Later, he instructed to stop the work of the metro in Ukraine, to stop bus, air and railway communication. As of Thursday morning, people were infected in the country 80, five more people died.
