The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, said on the air of RBC that Prague would receive even more opposition from Moscow in response to new destructive actions.
“We see how Prague destroys bilateral relations with passion. She does it selflessly and contrary to national interests, ”Zakharova said, adding that the Russian side gives“ an adequate response ”to the“ aggressive and hostile ”actions of the Czech Republic.
Amid accusations by the Russian special services of involvement in the explosions at a Czech military depot in 2014, 18 Russian diplomats were expelled from the Czech Republic last week. In response, Russia expelled 20 employees of the Czech embassy.
Prague then called on its EU and NATO allies to expel Russian diplomats in solidarity.
On April 20, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek allowed the possibility of expelling all Russian diplomats from Prague, and also said that the country was ready to start “building Czech-Russian relations from scratch.” The Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic is now preparing a lawsuit demanding compensation against those suspected of involvement in the Vrbetica bombings.
