Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that NATO is an organization whose only value is the mania for enlargement.
The diplomat commented on the words of German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock that the strength of the alliance lies not in tanks, but in cohesion to defend the law and common values.
In her Telegram channel, Zakharova wrote that in NATO everything is built only in words, although they “have not been correlated with the meaning put into them for a long time.”
Instead, there are colonial habits, the dictates of the strong and the lack of will of the weak, and the member countries of the bloc have long ceased to be free in making their own decisions, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman summed up.
Earlier, the US State Department said that the members of the North Atlantic Alliance are ready for a constructive dialogue with Moscow at a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council, which will be held January 12 in Brussels.
