Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic. As she told TASS, “Prague is well aware of what will follow such tricks.”
Acting Czech Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek said today that he made the decision to expel when Russian diplomats were “clearly identified as officers of the Russian special services” who may have been involved in an explosion at an ammunition depot in 2014. The employees of the Russian embassy were given 48 hours to leave the country.
As Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, told TASS, the “involvement” of the Russians in the explosion is “rubbish, sucked out of the blue.” According to the senator, Moscow will respond proportionally to Prague.
