Russian spokesman Maria Zakharova announced the country’s readiness to end the senseless war of sanctions unleashed by the collective West.
According to her, sanctions are a double-edged weapon that injures both the author of the restrictions and the addressee. Zakharova stressed that, by definition, there can be no winners in this confrontation. And the sooner the West realizes this, the better. For its part, Russia is ready to lift the sanctions, but this process should be mutual, not one-sided.
We did not start this sanctions war, but we are ready at any moment to go part of our path in order to end this senseless confrontation, as a result of which there will be no winners, ” the diplomatic officer said in a conversation with RT.
She expressed the hope that the West will abandon the “right of the strong”, stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and begin to build a normal dialogue with Moscow on the basis of the principles of equality.
Recall that the West has continued to impose sanctions against Russia since 2014. The reasons for this are very different – from the construction of the Crimean bridge to the unproven interference in the American elections and the imprisonment of Alexei Navalny. Moscow, guided by the principle of reciprocity, is imposing retaliatory sanctions.
Many Western politicians have already paid attention to the fact that sanctions against Russia do not work. They are not helping to bring about a change in Moscow’s policy. And on the contrary, they are pushing the Kremlin to toughen its position.
