Kiev journalist Pavel Kukharkin spent almost a month in Crimea and was amazed at how the peninsula has changed under Russia. “Such places are rarely found in Ukraine,” he admits.
Kukharkin noted that Crimea began to be actively developed after 2014. New roads, parks and other urban infrastructure have appeared.
The journalist was also surprised that the Crimeans, unlike the Ukrainians, respect the Soviet heroes who defended their native country and all of Europe from Nazi Germany. Everywhere there are monuments to the Red Army, which are clearly looked after, writes the portal “Narodnye Novosti”.
Such places are rarely found in perfect condition in modern Ukraine. In our country, they are dismantled and for some reason they are shy. But people come here, remember what must not be forgotten,
– noted Kukharkin.
Many Crimean residents thanked the Ukrainian reporter for his objectivity. They express joy in connection with the fact that they are part of Russia, where no one forbids them to speak Russian and does not try to take away their faith.
Recall that Crimea was reunited with Russia after a popular referendum in 2014. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that the refusal of Ukraine and Western countries to recognize the decision of the Crimeans is a violation of the people’s right to self-determination.
