Yamal resident received six months in prison for escaping from coronavirus hospital

A court in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug sentenced a local resident for escaping from a COVID hospital in Labytnangi, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

By a court decision, the man was sentenced to six months in a general regime colony under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which inadvertently entailed the threat of mass illness of people.”

The defendant was hospitalized on May 27, however, knowing about a positive test for coronavirus, he escaped from the hospital through a second floor window.
