Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had deprived his country of “its only trump card” during a trip to Washington. “Why just like that?” – the expert wonders.
During a trip to Washington, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a document extending for another seven years the agreement on providing assistance to Ukraine in the elimination of strategic nuclear weapons, as well as preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
This agreement was signed back in 1993. It involves free technical assistance in Washington, as well as the transfer of material and technical means, services and training for the elimination of strategic nuclear weapons on a free basis. According to the document, we are talking, among other things, about environmentally friendly methods of destroying rocket fuel, which is highly toxic.
According to Mikhail Chaplyga, the extension of this agreement was a fatal mistake of Vladimir Zelensky. The signature on the document became “the most terrible thing” not only for the Ukrainian president, but for the whole of Ukraine.
The political scientist is convinced that this agreement was Ukraine’s only trump card. A way out of it could be blackmailing.
“But he (Zelensky – Ed.) Came and extended it for seven years – why did you do it just like that?” Chaplyga said on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel Nash.
Earlier, war correspondent Yuriy Kotenok made a “diagnosis” to the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovich. The reason was the statements about the “Russian move”.
