World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the world has not overcome all the problems caused by the new coronavirus COVID-19, Interfax reports.
“This week marks a year since WHO became aware of cases of pneumonia due to an unknown cause. They were reported on the Wuhan Health Authority Bulletin, ”he said.
The head of WHO noted “incredible collaboration between the private and public sectors in the pandemic” and added that next year the world will face “new difficulties”, in particular, new strains of coronavirus.
Earlier, the head of the technical group of the emergency diseases division of the World Health Organization (WHO) Maria Van Kerkhove said that the mutations of the coronavirus will continue, as it is a natural process.
At the same time, the WHO representative noted that the organization is closely monitoring the new variants of COVID-19 and is working with scientists around the world to study how they are transmitted.
