Russia issued a deadline for the Open Skies Treaty – the United States got only a month to think about it. “In the meantime, everything is heading towards the collapse of the Treaty,” warned the head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks, Konstantin Gavrilov.
According to the diplomat, the situation around the Treaty at the moment is leading to its final collapse. He noted that if the United States refuses to return to the Don, Russia will approve its denunciation.
Gavrilov noted that Russia is ready to discuss issues if the United States “clearly and unequivocally” declares its return to the Treaty
“In the meantime, everything is heading towards the collapse of the Treaty,” he said.
According to the diplomat, Russia will not make unilateral concessions. Gavrilov added that all domestic procedures preceding notification of Russia’s decision to withdraw from the Treaty will be completed by the end of May.
