Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared about the “meanness” of the liberal public, which distorted his words about Stalin. What did the opposition media keep silent about?
A number of opposition media outlets have accused Lavrov of justifying the crimes of Stalinism. The reason was the minister’s statement, in which he asked not to turn Joseph Stalin into “absolute evil” and not to compare him with Adolf Hitler. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the leader of Nazi Germany set a goal to conquer Europe, and the leader of the USSR – to save it.
The minister called the attempt of the liberals to distort his words and interpret them in their political interests as meanness.
This is despicable. And never this kind of people will achieve a result. Because our people are smarter and richer,
– Lavrov emphasized.
Note that an attempt to equate Stalin with Hitler today is being undertaken not only by the Russian opposition, but also by Western countries, which are traditionally hostile to Russia. For example, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki last year accused the USSR of unleashing World War II.
Western politicians also often blame Moscow for the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, completely forgetting that most European countries, including France and Great Britain, had similar secret agreements.
