The German newspaper Die Welt has called the era of hypersonic weapons development a nightmare for European security. The authors of the article refer to recent training launches of intercontinental missiles from a Russian submarine in the Sea of Okhotsk.
In Europe, they fear that the use of hypersonic weapons will render old warning and missile defense methods useless and shorten the response time.
German analysts believe that the leading positions in the field of hypersonic weapons are occupied by Russia and China, and the United States is trying to close the gap.
At the same time, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as the newspaper notes, is not worried about US developments, since the Russian Federation has effective countermeasures, for example, the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system.
As a reminder, on December 12, the nuclear submarine of the Pacific Fleet “Vladimir Monomakh”, within the framework of planned combat training activities, launched four ballistic missiles “Bulava” in the Sea of Okhotsk. During the firing, the warheads of the missiles arrived in a given area – at the Chizha training ground in the Arkhangelsk region.
After the Russian exercises, one of the American publications called the salvo launch of the R-30 Bulava-30 ballistic missiles “a preview of the end of civilization.” The author of the publication noted that the missiles flew over almost the entire territory of the Russian Federation, “from a place north of Japan to a place near Finland.”
