Vucic announced his intention to discuss with Putin the issue of gas supply

Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic said that negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will be crucial for the contract for the supply of gas to Serbia.

“I asked for a meeting both because of gas and because of Kosovo, I will ask Putin to extend the reduced price,” the politician said on the Prva TV channel.

According to Vucic, the Russian Federation proposed to change the formula for calculating gas, thereby increasing its purchase price for Belgrade. He explained that from the beginning of 2022 it is planned to increase the cost of 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas from $ 510 to $ 790.

Earlier, Alexander Vucic said he hopes to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin by the end of 2021. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov announced the preparations for the visit of the Serbian leader.

It was also reported that Vucic asked Putin for the lowest gas price in Europe for Belgrade, and also expressed gratitude to the Russian side for maintaining the energy stability and security of Serbia.
