Volodin: it is not up to the US congressmen to decide who will lead Russia

The proposals of the US congressmen on the non-recognition of Vladimir Putin as president in the event of his election to this post in 2024 testify to the correctness of the choice made by the citizens of the Russian Federation in 2018. Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

In his opinion, it is not up to the American Congress to decide who will lead Russia. The speaker stressed that the Russian Federation does not interfere in the affairs of the United States, and other countries do not need to interfere in the affairs of Russia either. And the citizens of the country will decide who will be the president of the Russian Federation.

Volodin stressed that such initiatives indicate that “the United States does not want a strong Russia” and is doing everything to weaken and then destroy it.

“Those who pass resolutions today were enthusiastic yesterday [Михаилом] Gorbachev, applauded [Борису] Yeltsin, “Volodin wrote, noting that then the citizens were tested” because of the weakness of the leaders of the state and the betrayal of the elites, who were by no means oriented to national interests. “

At the same time, according to Volodin, the United States did not fulfill a single promise made after the collapse of the USSR.

Recall that Congressmen Steve Cohen and Joe Wilson submitted to the US House of Representatives a proposal not to recognize Russian President Vladimir Putin as the head of the Russian state if he decides to run for a new term in 2024.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this proposal, called it interference in the internal affairs of Russia.
