Politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky recently died.
On May 27, an extraordinary XXXIV Congress was held at which it was decided who would lead the Liberal Democratic Party after the death of Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
The start of the congress was given in the morning. It began with a moment of silence announced by Leonid Slutsky in memory of Vladimir Zhirinovsky. “He is in the memory and heart of each of us,” the deputy said.
85 regional branches of the LDPR took part in the voting. As mentioned earlier, 76 departments proposed to nominate Leonid Slutsky for the post. As the Supreme Council of the LDRP said the day before, based on the position of the regions, the party expressed its full support to him and recommended that the delegates give his name. As a result, after several hours of voting and vote counting, it became clear that he would be the leader.
Note that after the death of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the media named several names of politicians who could lead the Liberal Democratic Party. In addition to Slutsky, the list included the son of Vladimir Volfovich – Igor Lebedev, as well as the head of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev.
Recall that Vladimir Zhirinovsky died on April 6 at the age of 76. Back in the winter, he ended up in the hospital due to complications caused by the coronavirus. For several months, doctors fought for his life. And although the party apparatus officials denied everything, insiders reported sad news about the politician’s well-being: he was constantly put into a coma due to the failure of vital organs.
