Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, May 1, charged to simplify the issuance of Russian citizenship for a number of foreigners. The order concerns the finalists of the Russia – Land of Opportunities competition.
In the Kremlin’s notice it saysthat the Russian government should develop a mechanism for the simplified issuance of citizenship for foreigners and stateless persons. The Russian passport will be issued to the finalists and winners of the all-Russian competitions of the Russia – Land of Opportunities platform.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is appointed responsible for the execution of the order. Vladimir Putin also charged the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Presidential Administration to prepare proposals for amending legal acts that would provide for the acquisition of Russian citizenship in a special order for foreigners who defeated or reached the finals of Russia – the Land of Opportunities.
In the coffin of March, Vladimir Putin supported the idea of a simplified issuance of citizenship and residence permits for the winners of the Leaders of Russia competition. At the same time, the President charged to create a forum “Russia – Land of Opportunities”.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia previously reported that in 2020 Ukrainian citizens received Russian passports more often than others. Their number is 62% of the total number of new citizens of Russia.
