Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko called for the creation of an effective system for sorting and recycling solid municipal waste (MSW) in the Arkhangelsk region.
The Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting on this topic, which was attended by the Acting Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, Alexander Tsybulsky, and representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Rosprirodnadzor, Rospotrebnadzor and the Russian Environmental Operator.
During the meeting, Abramchenko stressed that the organization of a working system for handling MSW is the most sensitive issue for the residents of the region, which is proved by the active social movement that has been formed.
We see all the imperfection of the existing infrastructure for the collection, movement, storage and processing of waste, and this also determines not only the quality of life of citizens on the territory, but also the economic attractiveness of the Russian entity., - said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, one should first of all focus on reducing the amount of MSW that is disposed of at landfills in the region, as follows from the tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
To do this, we will create a modern sorting and disposal system, we will be engaged in the reclamation of already accumulated landfills, including those that have arisen on the lands of the forest fund, which are sufficient in sufficient quantity in the Arkhangelsk region., - promised Abramchenko.
The acting head of the region said that the region is faced with the task of focusing on creating an effective system for handling MSW and infrastructure for their processing and storage, while taking into account the experience of the events at Shies station, when the overwhelming majority of residents of the Arkhangelsk region spoke out against the construction of an ecotechnopark there.
For the Arkhangelsk region, issues related to ecology are of a special nature after people express their attitude to the project on Shies. <...> It is pleasant that the government supported us in its intention to deal with the waste generated in the region. And we agreed on this, there should and will not be any delivery of waste from other regions to the territory of the Arkhangelsk region., - stressed Tsybulsky.
The Acting Governor pointed out that the MSW management system is just beginning to emerge, and therefore the readiness of the Cabinet of Ministers to help the region in this endeavor will be of great help.
Following the meeting, Abramchenko instructed the federal executive authorities, in cooperation with the regional government, to consider in detail the existing structure of MSW management, including unauthorized objects, and make proposals for its development and improvement of the regional operator's activities.
As NEWS.ru wrote, in June Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said that the landfills for storing MSW in every third region of the Russian Federation do not meet sanitary requirements.
