Washington would like to see transparency from Russia regarding the deployment of its armed forces near the border with Ukraine. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, reports TASS.
He noted that the US authorities want Moscow to give “transparent and honest” answers on the issue of the deployment of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border. At the same time, Kirby urged Russia to adhere to the Minsk agreements.
The spokesman stressed that Washington is closely monitoring the movements of the Russian troops.
Several American publications previously reported that Russia allegedly deployed its troops on the border with Ukraine. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, one of the relevant materials, published in the Politico newspaper, is a “poor-quality stuff”. According to Peskov, Russia is moving troops within its own territory and at its own discretion. He stressed that these actions do not threaten other states.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nikiforov said that the office of the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has no information about the accumulation of Russian troops near the Ukrainian borders.
