The Russian Foreign Ministry’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Deputy Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights Grigory Lukyantsev said that since 2008 the United States has been “hunting” for Russian citizens in third countries with the aim of subsequent extradition to America. And there are already 50 victims of this “hunt”.
Grigory Lukyantsev, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Deputy Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights, called the American practice of “hunting” for Russian citizens abroad, their arrests in third countries at the request of the law enforcement agencies of the United States , as well as attempts to take the Russians out in order to bring them to justice in the United States.
According to the diplomat’s calculations, the number of victims of such a “hunt” of Americans since 2008 has already been measured in dozens. “More than 50 such cases have already been known,” Lukyantsev noted, noting with regret that the number of such cases is only increasing.
The Ombudsman noted that as soon as our citizens find themselves in the States and face their justice system, they are immediately under the strongest influence and pressure from the American side.
Among the most notorious and egregious cases of this kind, one can single out the cases of Maria Butina, Viktor But, as well as the pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko.
“Many of our compatriots refuse to admit their guilt, since the accusations against them are unfounded,”
– RIA Novosti quoted Lukyantsev as saying.
