The American authorities have begun negotiations with Berlin on the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing knowledgeable sources.
It is noted that the parties, among other things, are discussing the possibility of introducing new sanctions against companies involved in the construction of SP-2.
According to the newspaper, the administration of US President Joe Biden decided to reconsider its policy regarding this project after the ship “Fortuna” began laying pipes in Danish waters in early February.
Earlier, the Swedish MP called for pressure on the FRG regarding the construction of the gas pipeline.
Nord Stream 2 envisages the construction of two pipelines from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. To date, more than 95% of the pipeline has been completed. In turn, Washington actively opposes the implementation of the project, since the American side is interested in selling its own liquefied natural gas.
