The United States plans to expand its military presence in Greece, according to To Vima newspaper.

According to the publication, the United States proposes in the new defense agreement to provide for the deployment of the American military at several dozen military facilities in Greece and to update the agreement every five years, rather than annually.

In October 2019, the United States and Greece signed an agreement that provides for the expansion of the American base of the Court, the provision of the infrastructure of the bases of Stefanovicio, Larisa and Alexandroupolis to the Americans, as well as the possibility, in agreement with Greece, to use any military facility on its territory.

Note that before that the United States had only one base – the Ships in Crete.

Earlier it was reported that the governments of Japan and the United States have agreed to extend the terms of the distribution of costs for maintaining American bases in the country until March 31, 2022.

The parties agreed to continue negotiations on the distribution of costs for the further period.
Japan’s spending will amount to about $ 1.9 billion. The country pays utility bills for these facilities and pays salaries to staff.
