The topic of the talks between US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was bilateral relations. This was announced by the American diplomat after the meeting, RIA Novosti reports.
“I am delighted to be back in Russia, dealing with our bilateral relations,” she said.
The meeting between Ryabkov and Nuland was held at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday in a closed format. The diplomats talked for about two hours. Ryabkov said that the dialogue with Nuland was extremely frank, but “so far the positions of the parties do not fit well together.” He also added that the topic of Ukraine was not discussed.
Earlier it was reported that the US Undersecretary of State arrived in Russia on a three-day visit. She also plans to meet with Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak.
