US reminds Ankara of importance of de-escalation in Syria

National Security Adviser to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan, during a conversation with foreign policy adviser to the President of Turkey Ibrahim Kalin, appealed to the Turkish side with a request to stop the escalation of tensions in Syria, Joe Biden’s administration said.

Sullivan said it was necessary to refrain from escalating the conflict in Syria in order to maintain the existing ceasefire lines and avoid further destabilization in the region, the White House said in a released statement.

Sullivan also appealed to Ankara to develop dialogue on resolving disputes in the eastern Mediterranean region.

In addition, the parties were able to discuss actions aimed at enabling Ukrainian agricultural exports to enter world markets.

Earlier, SM-News reported: Erdogan said that Turkey would not change its position on Sweden and Finland in NATO without steps on their part.
