The United States does not plan to deploy offensive missile weapons on the territory of Ukraine and considers it possible to reach an agreement with Russia on this matter, RIA Novosti reports.
The agency refers to a senior US administration official. He told reporters that American President Joe Biden had previously told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the United States had no intentions to do so. According to the official, the countries can reach mutual understanding if Russia undertakes reciprocal obligations.
As a reminder, on January 10, representatives of the Russian and US Foreign Ministries will hold a meeting in the format of a strategic dialogue. The parties plan to discuss the situation in Ukraine, as well as security guarantees. The White House had previously stated that it was ready to discuss with Russia the non-deployment of American missiles on Ukrainian territory.
