US imposes sanctions against Turkey due to military cooperation with Russia

The United States is imposing sanctions against Turkey due to military cooperation with Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

This is evidenced by a notice in the US Federal Register, which will officially take effect on April 7.

It is known that the SSB defense industry department, as well as four officials who work in it, including the head of department Ismail Demir, fell under the American sanctions.

For the Turkish state institution, a ban is imposed on American exports and loans in the amount of more than ten million dollars. State officials, in turn, will be deprived of the opportunity to enter the United States. Their assets in the American jurisdiction will be blocked.

Restrictions against SSB are introduced for ties with the defense sector of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the text of the notification does not mention the Russian S-400 air defense systems, for the purchase of which Washington previously threatened Ankara with sanctions.

Let us remind you that the day before, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. During the conversation, he once again called on the authorities of the republic to abandon Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.
