US authorities accused five Chinese citizens of hacker attacks

First Deputy Attorney General of the United States Jeffrey Rosen said that the American authorities have indicted five Chinese citizens for carrying out hacker attacks.

According to TASS, the Ministry of Justice believes that the damage was caused to hundreds of companies around the world. According to Rosen, the hacker group is called APT41 and is one of the leading organizations for "Chinese cyber espionage."

Earlier, the United States Treasury Department imposed restrictive measures against the Chinese state-owned company Union Development Group. The American department emphasized that the decision is directed against human rights violators, corrupt officials and their supporters.

It was also reported that the US Treasury Department added two Russians to the cyber-related sanctions list.

In turn, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said earlier that China poses a greater threat to the United States than Russia.
