US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the United States is proposing new UN sanctions against North Korea in response to ballistic missile launches in recent months, RIA Novosti reported.
According to the diplomat, each of these launches violated UN resolutions.
“The United States is proposing UN sanctions after six ballistic missile launches by North Korea since September 2021,” she said.
Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces reported that on January 11, the DPRK launched a projectile of an unidentified type towards the Sea of Japan.
On January 5, South Korea also reported that North Korea launched an unknown projectile, presumably a ballistic missile, towards the Sea of Japan.
