Uralvagonzavod has not received orders for the production of railcars for 2021. None of its three largest customers - SUEK, Federal Freight Company (a subsidiary of Russian Railways), and Freight One - have signed contracts with the company. Russian Railways themselves chose other suppliers.
UVZ representatives have to ask for the purchase of at least a few cars, - said RBC one of the sources.
In 2020, Uralvagonzavod signed 32 contracts for 649 million rubles (in 2019 - 77 for 1.4 billion rubles), and all 32 contracts end in 2020. Analysts interviewed by the publication reported a new surplus of wagons and attributed this primarily to decreasing government subsidies to the industry, as well as to a drop in demand for coal - this is the main driver of transportation.
In addition to wagons, Uralvagonzavod is engaged in the development and production of military equipment and road-building machines. The corporation includes research institutes, design bureaus and manufacturing enterprises.
Earlier chernayakobra.ru wrote that the newest Russian tank T-14 "Armata", created by the concern "Uralvagonzavod", was tested in bare-crew mode. By the end of 2021, the Russian Ministry of Defense should receive from Uralvagonzavod 132 T-14 and T-15 tanks on the Armata platform.
