Aluminum is a rather difficult metal for soldering, since, due to the oxide film, the solder does not stick to it. You can get rid of it in different ways, often time consuming. Few people know that tinning aluminum can be done by making copper plating on it. After that, it will be quite simple to solder.
- Copper sulfate;
- constant current source.
Aluminum brazing process
It is necessary to prepare a concentrated aqueous solution of copper sulfate.
On the surface of the aluminum, which needs to be tinned, plasticine bumpers are made. Then the solution is poured into this mold.
Next, we take the negative wire of the transformer and connect it to the aluminum blank, and dip the positive wire in a bath with vitriol, but so that it does not touch the metal.
We are waiting for a minute, or even less if the transformer is powerful. After that, we drain the solution and remove the plasticine.
A copper deposit will remain on the surface under the bath, to which the solder adheres remarkably. Please note that the soldering iron should warm up the surface well.
With sufficient power of the transformer, the entire preparation process takes a couple of minutes, so the method should be adopted.
