UN hopes that Russia’s consultations with the US and NATO will ease tensions

The United Nations (UN) hopes that Moscow’s consultations with Washington, NATO and the OSCE on security issues will lead to a de-escalation of tensions. This is reported by TASS with reference to the official representative of the secretary general of the world organization Stefan Dujarrik.

He noted that the UN stands for holding a dialogue at the highest level and hopes that such contacts will continue even in conditions of continued tension. In addition, the organization is seriously concerned about the situation around Ukraine and would not like the outbreak of hostilities, Dujarrick said.

Russia and the United States will hold talks in Geneva on January 10 to discuss security guarantees. On January 12, a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council will take place, and on January 13 – negotiations between representatives of the Russian Federation and the OSCE.

Earlier it became known that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko will represent the Russian diplomatic service at the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council on January 12. At the same time, he noted that the alliance is trying to increase tension around the conflict in Ukraine.
