The Ukrainian military returned to the control of the government the village of Staromaryevka on the line of contact in Donbass. This is reported by the publication “Babel”, citing sources in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
According to the newspaper, the armed servicemen occupied the village on Monday evening and settled there. An attempt to occupy Staromaryevka was previously announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Natalia Nikonorova. After the actions of the DPR servicemen, she turned to the OSCE and called on the world community to force Kiev to return to a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
Nikonorova noted that the actions of the Ukrainian military contradict the Minsk agreements and some acts of international law relating to the protection of victims of non-international armed conflicts.
Earlier it was reported that the European Commission will allocate an additional 3.5 million euros to support vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in the Donbass.
