During the EU-Ukraine summit, Brussels was unable to voice a clear position on the preservation of Kiev’s energy security. According to Eliseev, the Ukrainian authorities should not count on the support of the West in solving their own problems.
“Energy issues were voiced weakly at the summit to a certain extent. I did not feel confidence and firm support from the EU leaders or a vision of how the EU can help Ukraine cope with at least the current winter period, which, unfortunately, promises to be very difficult, ”the diplomat emphasized.
Eliseev believes that the European Union is absolutely not interested in helping Ukraine after the launch of Nord Stream 2, which, in the diplomat’s opinion, was stated by the President of the European Commission. He advised Ukraine to strive for energy independence. At the summit, European politicians did not condemn the certification of the SP-2 gas pipeline and only asked Russia to maintain gas transit through Ukrainian territory after 2024.
The Federal Grid Agency of Germany received documents for certification of Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent operator, within four months the application will be considered and sent to the European Commission. And from October 4, they began to fill the first string of Nord Stream 2 with gas.
Earlier in NewInform: in Ukraine they talked about the difficult economic situation with gas and coal.
