As part of the COVAX program, the European Union plans to provide Ukraine with Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines. This was stated by the Vice-President of the European Commission (EC) Valdis Dombrovskis after a meeting with the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, reports TASS.
Dombrovskis said that in February the country will receive 117 thousand doses of Pfizer, and in the first half of the year – from 2.2 to 3.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Moreover, Poland intends to sell another 1.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Kiev.
We will remind that earlier Ukraine refused to use the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”. President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on this decision, said that “Ukrainians are not rabbits” and one cannot experiment on them. His words were later commented on by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova and the press secretary of Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov.
