In Ukraine, a British-Swedish company AstraZeneca has registered an anti-coronavirus vaccine for emergency medical use, according to the website of the country’s Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry, deliveries to the country from 2.2 to 3.7 million doses of the vaccine are expected in the first or second quarter of this year.
The vaccine will be purchased for state funds directly from manufacturers.
It is also reported that the Ukrainian Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov recently supervised the shipment of the first batch of 500 thousand doses of AstraZeneca from a manufacturer in India.
The documents for the registration of the AstraZeneca vaccine were submitted to the state expert center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in mid-February.
In addition, in December last year it became known about the conclusion of an agreement between Kiev and the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech for the supply of over 1.9 million doses of the vaccine produced by it.
At the end of January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on accelerated registration of imported vaccines against COVID-19, except for those produced in the Russian Federation.
