Ukraine realized that it lost Crimea forever – Lavrov

The Ukrainian authorities realized that they had lost Crimea forever. And the question of the peninsula is finally closed. This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

So he commented on the results of the failed Ukrainian “Crimean Platform”, which, despite all the efforts of Kiev, failed to attract widespread attention from the international community.

I am convinced that the leaders of Ukraine realized that the issue of Crimea is closed,

– said Lavrov.

The Foreign Minister also noted Ukraine’s attempts to interfere with the holding of elections in Russia. Kiev has already sent out to all countries demands not to send observers to Russia during the parliamentary elections in September. The reason for the interference in the internal affairs of Russia was the Ukrainian attempts to appropriate the Russian Crimea.

Note that the OSCE previously refused to send observers. The organization wanted to send 500 people to Russia, but in Moscow such a number of observers was considered excessive. The OSCE refused to reduce the size of its delegation.

State Duma deputy, head of the Russian delegation to PACE Pyotr Tolstoy drew attention to the fact that the OSCE does not send so many observers to any country. For example, the organization dispatched 30 employees to observe elections in the United States, and 10 employees in the Netherlands.

Recall that Crimea was reunited with Russia after a popular referendum in 2014. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that the refusal of Ukraine and Western countries to recognize the decision of the Crimeans is a violation of the people’s right to self-determination.
