Kiev allowed NATO airplanes to fly over Crimea. This decision of Ukraine was explained by the former permanent representative of the President of the country on the peninsula Boris Babin.
According to the politician, this is not about inviting the alliance’s aviation, but about allowing it to fly. Babin said that Kiev allows “respected NATO members” to fly over the waters of the Black Sea.
The Obozrevatel newspaper writes that Babin said: this is the zone of responsibility of his country, in accordance with the norms of the international left. He recalled that when the peninsula had not yet become part of Russia, the Simferopol airport itself was responsible for the Black Sea.
According to Babin’s assumption, NATO planes will not fly too close to Crimea – no more than 12 miles.
