Ukraine closed ports for Russian ships

In Ukraine, a law came into force prohibiting Russian courts from accessing the country’s internal waters, the document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 3, 2020 and posted on the website of the Ukrainian parliament.

In accordance with the document, the transportation of passengers and goods under the Russian flag is also prohibited. A similar ban has been introduced with regard to coastal cargo flights in the country’s inland waters.

In addition, a ban has been introduced on the registration of ships owned by Russian citizens in the State Ship Register of Ukraine.

Internal river waterways in Ukraine include the Dniester, Danube, Dnieper and a number of others.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine also opened a case against 23 Russian artists who participated in the inauguration of the Crimean bridge. In turn, the Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict.
