Ukraine through the OSCE asked Russia to “cease fire” in the Donbass during the coronavirus epidemic. This was told by the deputy from the presidential faction “Servant of the People” Irina Vereshchuk, reports Obozrevatel.
“The Ukrainian side in the person of Leonid Kuchma appealed to the OSCE with a request appeal to the Russian Federation so that we cease fire – an unconditional, complete and comprehensive ceasefire during the pandemic period, ”explained Vereshchuk.
She recalled that UN Secretary General António Guterres called for an end to all conflicts in the world during a pandemic. “There were examples, like in Libya, when they actually ceased fire,” the deputy said. According to her, there were agreements for the period of the pandemic to stop the fire, “in order to give access to doctors, to give access to medical services and services regardless of which side of Ukraine people are today.”
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, Alexei Reznikov, said that the coronavirus prevented the creation of an advisory council for negotiations with the republics of Donbass.
An armed conflict in the Donbass broke out in 2014, when part of Donetsk and Lugansk regions proclaimed independence from Ukraine after the change of central authority in Kiev. Ukraine accuses Russia of occupying Donbass and supporting separatism. The Kremlin rejects the claim.
The world has declared a coronavirus pandemic. According to the latest data, 7 thousand people are infected 319. In Ukraine, the virus was detected in 20 patients.
