Ukraine accused Russia of seeking special conditions for Nord Stream 2

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, the Russian authorities are trying to find gaps in European legislation that would help create preferential conditions for Nord Stream 2.

“We insist, and we are not alone, with us are a number of European Union member states, the European Commission, that not only the letter, but also the spirit of the EU’s Third Energy Package should be answered by Nord Stream 2. Only then will the Nord Stream not turn into a northern weapon, – quotes the Ukraine 24 TV channel as the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The Ukrainian minister has already accused Moscow of using gas supplies as a “weapon”. Earlier, he called on Germany to respond to this. However, the heads of the Bundestag committees, Klaus Ernst and Peter Ramsauer, pointed out that there was no evidence of Moscow’s involvement in raising gas prices in Europe.

Let us remind you that earlier Germany suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2. This is due to German legislation, which obliges Nord Stream 2 AG to establish a German subsidiary. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov denied the opinion that the decision to suspend certification of the gas pipeline is politicized. According to a Kremlin spokesman, this is a difficult process that requires patience.
