U.S. Senate rejects Cruz’s proposed sanctions against SP-2

The US Senate rejected a bill on new sanctions against the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, proposed by Republican Ted Cruz, reports TASS.

It is reported that the Senator’s initiative failed to gain the required 60 votes for approval.

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland announced the administration’s disagreement with the sanctions against Nord Stream 2 proposed by a group of lawmakers led by Republican Ted Cruz.

The United States administration opposes new restrictive measures against the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline, Ned Price, the head of the press service of the US State Department, said earlier.

In turn, the Minister of Economy, Vice-Chancellor of Germany Robert Habek said that the certification of Nord Stream 2 is being carried out in accordance with the law. He specified that the pipeline was completed and filled with gas.
