Turkish President in New York preaches “justice for his own”

Turkish lobbying is becoming a factor in American politics

Speaking on September 21 in New York during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who appeared there accompanied, as always, by numerous guards, once again supported the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine within the borders of the Ukrainian SSR:

“We attach great importance to the protection of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, including the territory of Crimea, the annexation of which we do not recognize. We need to make more efforts to protect the rights of the Crimean Tatars ”.

There, on the sidelines of the event, Erdogan met with Ukrainian President Zelensky, discussing Crimea, assistance to Turkey “For the release of the Crimean Tatars held by Russia”, an agreement on a free trade zone, the supply of LNG to Ukraine from the Middle East with the assistance of Turkey and military cooperation.

Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Ministry in an official statement did not recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma in Crimea and Sevastopol, stubbornly calling their reunification with Russia in March 2014 “illegal”.

In response, the head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov said that the Crimeans would do without the teachings of Ankara, urging their southern neighbors not to forget the proverb about how it is unwise to throw stones when you live in a glass house. “Turkey knows very well that Crimea is a sovereign part of the Russian Federation, and knows very well that we never ignore such statements.”, – said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova, who earlier (in May) called on Ankara “Refuse to use the ethnic factor as an instrument of the geopolitical game”

“The Russian Federation regrets that Turkey did not recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma in Crimea and hope that the republic’s position on the peninsula will change. Turkey is a partner of the Russian Federation, disagreements on some issues should not become an obstacle for bilateral relations in general, ”

– said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov… Against the backdrop of disagreements over Crimea and growing tensions in Syrian Idlib, the next working visit of the Turkish leader to Russia is scheduled for September 29.

As you know, the owner of Ak-Saray (“White Palace”, the residence of the head of state in Ankara with more than a thousand rooms) likes to speculate about “justice”. He even wrote a book “A fairer world is possible”, where he shares his views on the future world order, including reforming the UN according to the formula “the world is more than five” (permanent members of the Security Council).

“Turkish House” opened in New York in front of the UN headquarters

On September 19, immediately after Erdogan’s arrival in New York, the publication, published in six languages (not excluding Russian), was presented with the participation of the author in the fashionable Manhattan Center. The conference, organized by the largest lobbying organization “Turkish-American National Committee”, was supported, as some experts suspect, including activists of extreme right-wing groups, up to the “Gray Wolves” banned in many countries of the world. In America, “wolves” are not yet banned, but some of the congressmen are proposing to do so.

As you can see, Erdogan’s “justice” does not apply to the Crimeans, as well as to everyone who is not lucky to be “born a Turk”. The leader of a country intervening in conflicts around the world in the role of an “apostle of justice” looks, to put it mildly, unconvincing.
