Turkish border guards detained Russians who were trying to illegally cross the Syrian-Turkish border, RIA Novosti reports, citing the country’s Ministry of National Defense.
The report said that security forces in Hatay province thwarted an illegal border crossing by six people. Five of them are Russian citizens, one is a Libyan citizen.
According to the department, among the detainees is a woman who was previously wanted in connection with her participation in the Islamic State terrorist group, which was banned in Russia.
On the eve, it was reported about the detention in Crimea of citizens involved in financing the terrorist organization ISIS, banned in the Russian Federation. Detainees from 2015 to 2019 collected funds under the guise of charitable assistance through social networks. They sent the received money to the needs of the militants abroad.
