Turkey allows the purchase of Russian fighters

Turkey may purchase Russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighters if the United States freezes the sale of F-16s after the F-35, RIA Novosti reported.

This statement was made by the head of the Turkish Defense Industry Department Ismail Demir. It is noted that Russia is ready to negotiate with the Turkish side on the Su-35 and Su-57 fighters.

According to Demir, Turkey will not be left without alternatives and will always be able to find a way out.

Earlier, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems made sense, despite the emerging problems in relations with the United States. At the same time, Erdogan added that if Washington agreed to sell Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, Ankara “would not have to acquire” Russian air defense systems.

Prior to that, Washington decided to exclude Ankara from the F-35 fighter program. In turn, the Turkish side stated that it would not refuse to supply Russian anti-aircraft systems.
