Former American leader Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the House Commission investigating the storming of the Capitol, the lawsuit is directed to the federal district court of the District of Columbia.
The politician demanded to prohibit the disclosure of documents concerning his administration in the course of the proceedings. According to Trump, the commission’s requests are illegal and unenforceable. The Republican stressed that they are contrary to the country’s constitution.
The defendants also included the head of the commission, Benny Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, and the head of the United States National Archives, David Ferrero. Trump believes that the commission should be deprived of the right to send requests, and the National Archives should be prohibited from providing the investigation with any data until he gets acquainted with it himself.
We will remind, on January 6, Trump’s supporters staged riots in Washington. They broke into the Capitol and interrupted a meeting that was supposed to confirm the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential elections. Five people became victims of the riots.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Biden would not exercise the powers that would allow him to ban the disclosure of documents relating to the work of the previous administration.
