US President Donald Trump admitted that he was considering the option of eliminating Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the US head said on Fox News.
According to Trump, he was dissuaded by the head of the US Department of Defense James Mattis.
Trump said he considered Assad a "bad man" and was thinking about trying to eliminate him, but Mattis was against it. The head of the United States said that he did not regret that he did not make a decision to eliminate Assad.
Earlier it was reported that the United States imposed sanctions on six Syrian citizens from Assad's entourage. The sanctions were imposed after a US base in Syria came under rocket fire.
