"The EU has not yet responded to the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan in Karabakh"
On Sunday night, Armenia and Azerbaijan were able to once again agree to establish a humanitarian truce from scratch on October 18.
"If Azerbaijan remains loyal to the ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, the Artsakh Defense Army is ready to provide a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of the besieged Azerbaijani troops,"
- stated the press secretary of the Artsakh Republic President Vahram Poghosyan.
Indeed, Sunday night in Stepanakert passed quietly - no sirens were turned on, there were no explosions. In the morning, janitors appeared on the streets of the capital, who set about restoring order.
However, already at 7:20 am, artillery fire began, after which the Azerbaijani Armed Forces attempted an offensive in the southern direction in the area of the Khudaferin reservoir in order to take more advantageous positions. Soon fire was opened in the northern direction. There are dead and wounded on both sides, the press service of the Karabakh Defense Army reports.
Having violated the ceasefire, Azerbaijan refused from the offer of mediation by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the withdrawal of the wounded from the battlefield.
“The incident testifies that the Aliyev clan, which has become an instrument of Turkish expansion in the region, is only concerned about maintaining its own power and, horrified at the prospect of responsibility before its own people for unleashing a war and numerous losses, is trying to postpone the inevitable moment of confrontation face to face with reality ",
- stated in the message of the press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan...
Meanwhile, a serious problem appeared on the front line, which was told by the adviser to the President of the Republic of Artsakh (the Armenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh) Araik Harutyunyan David Babayan...
“In some directions of the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh, a serious epidemiological situation has developed due to the large number of bodies of mercenaries, servicemen of the Azerbaijani army. Certain decomposition processes are already beginning here, and we are faced with serious sanitary problems, ”
- said David Babayan on Sunday at a briefing.
The Foreign Ministry of Karabakh made a statement in connection with the repeated violation of the humanitarian truce agreement by Baku.
“Ignoring the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, on the night of October 17-18, on the very first day of the humanitarian ceasefire, the Azerbaijani-Turkish forces violated ceasefire agreements three times in different parts of the front line, which led to casualties on both sides ... Irresponsible and destructive steps of the enemy indicate that Azerbaijan and Turkey do not want to fulfill their obligations under international conventions and the agreements reached on a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes. Only the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh can suppress the Azerbaijani-Turkish treacherous behavior, which will put an end to attempts to resolve the Karabakh conflict by force, "
- says the statement of the Artsakh Foreign Ministry.
And the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that the European Union has not yet reacted to the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in Karabakh.
“For three weeks now, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been shelling the cities and villages of Nagorno-Karabakh, including Stepanakert, deliberately striking the civilian population and civilian infrastructure. In addition, Azerbaijan caused damage to the civilian population and infrastructure of Armenia. However, the EU has not yet been able to clearly and unequivocally respond to the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey, including the transfer of mercenaries from Syria and Libya to the conflict zone. At the same time, the threat of destruction hanging over the people of Karabakh is ignored, as well as the deepening humanitarian crisis, ”
- reads the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The war in Nagorno-Karabakh continues ...
