Trilateral mission: Spravorossi named candidates for elections to the State Duma

Spravorossi plan to become the main competitor of United Russia in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the party’s leadership told Izvestia. At the congress, which took place in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, the political force determined and approved the list of candidates who will go to the Duma elections. Experts, however, believe that internal conflicts of party members on the ground can pose a threat to the final results. And therefore spravorassam will have to offer additional arguments in their favor.

A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth was the last of the parliamentary parties to hold a pre-election congress, at which it presented its program and identified candidates for the upcoming campaign. The event, which was also attended by Izvestia, was held on June 26 in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. All forum participants were given souvenirs with party symbols, as well as offered a choice of one of the books by the party’s co-chairman Zakhar Prilepin. One of the most media members of the association attended the congress, Hollywood action star Steven Seagal. In the upcoming campaign, however, the actor will not be able to participate.

The central event for the party members was the approval of candidates who will go to the Duma elections. The federal part of the list includes five people – party leaders Sergei Mironov, Zakhar Prilepin and Gennady Semigin, as well as director Vladimir Menshov and Senator Alexander Babakov.

At the same time, many active spravorassy will defend the honor of the party in the regional lists. Among them there are current State Duma deputies: Mikhail Emelyanov (first deputy chairman of the committee on state building and legislation), Fedot Tumusov (first deputy chairman of the health protection committee), Valery Gazzaev (head of the committee on ethnic affairs), Oleg Shein (member of the committee on social policy ), Igor Ananskikh (deputy chairman of the State Duma), Alexei Chepa (deputy chairman of the international affairs committee), Dmitry Ionin (first deputy chairman of the energy committee) and Valery Gartung (first deputy chairman of the economic policy committee).

The head of the Housing and Utilities Committee Galina Khovanskaya was included in the list of candidates from Moscow. From St. Petersburg spravorassa nominated Oleg Nilov (first deputy chairman of the committee for control and regulation) and Elena Drapeko (first deputy chairman of the committee for culture).

It is worth recalling that this party in its current form appeared quite recently: it was founded on February 22 as a result of the merger of A Just Russia with Za Pravda and Patriots of Russia. Sergei Mironov became the leader of the united political force, and Zakhar Prilepin and Gennady Semigin became co-chairs.

– The party leaders have outlined their ambitions earlier and confirm them – we believe that we can well press the ruling party. Because people expect justice, not formalism. Real support, not claims. Three political forces have come together to jointly defeat poverty, corruption and crime in Russia, ”party chairman Sergei Mironov told Izvestia.

At a press approach within the framework of the congress, he also said that the union will fight for at least second place in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Internal problems

At the same time, the leadership of the united political force noted that they understand the impossibility of fighting for leadership in the Duma of the VIII convocation.

– We strive to fight for the first place, but we are well aware that this is not an easy task. Therefore, we are faced with the task of becoming a leading competitor to United Russia, ”Oleg Shein, secretary of the presidium of the party’s central council, told Izvestia.

He also said that the party will consult with the Communist Party of the Russian Federation on the division of single-mandate constituencies. According to Shein, the main policy of the party will be related to the topics closest to people – a progressive scale of taxation, unconditional basic income, lowering the retirement age and other aspects.

By the way, the party’s co-chairman Zakhar Prilepin came to the Communist Party congress on June 24 to negotiate an alliance with the communists.

“We propose on August 19, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the State Emergency Committee, to create a large left-wing coalition in and outside the Duma itself, as well as sign a memorandum of cooperation,” the politician told Izvestia.

However, the leadership of the Communist Party called it an attempt at political PR and did not allow the leader of a rival political force to attend the event.

Any change and merger of parties with each other is not painless, said Dmitry Badovsky, chairman of the Institute for Socio-Economic and Political Research (ISEPS), in a conversation with Izvestia.

– On the one hand, this is a plus. On the other hand, a configuration of old and new parties is taking shape in each specific region. “Fair Russia” in the elections is very dependent on its regional associations and regional leaders. It often happens that the party is drawn by strong local figures, single-mandate members. Much will depend on conflicts in such key regions, – the specialist noted.

To achieve significant results, the party must show additional arguments in its favor, political analysts say.

“Expectations from Fair Russia turned out to be positive, but so far somewhat overestimated,” Dmitry Orlov, Director General of the Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APEC), said in a conversation with Izvestia.

The President signed a decree on the appointment of elections to the State Duma for September 19 on June 17, giving an official start to the election campaign. Already on June 19, the ruling United Russia party held a congress, during which Vladimir Putin named the five leaders of the United Russia list and put forward new initiatives in the social sphere. On June 24, a congress of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation took place, and on the 24th, the events of “Fair Russia” took place.
