A trilateral meeting of the guarantors of the “Astana process” on Syria is taking place in Sochi today, RIA Novosti reports.
The event is attended by representatives of Russia, Iran and Turkey, as well as delegates from the UN, ICRC, the Syrian government and local opposition.
The consultations will last for two days.
The Russian President’s special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, previously reported that during the meeting they plan to discuss the topics of settlement, the fight against terrorism, the return of refugees, and the economic situation in Syria is also on the agenda.
Let us remind you that the United States refused to invite Moscow to participate in the meeting as observers.
